Challenge
The task at hand involved the creation of a new section within the Total Materia SaaS platform – the BOM section. Designed to cater to material engineers, constructors, and logistics experts, this tool offers rapid insights into product compliance with international market regulations.
My role
As a key member of the team, I spearheaded the design of the BOM component. Leading the UX efforts, I produced major deliverables and presented them to the client in January 2022, working collaboratively with developers and the product owner.
Scope & Constraints
Our approach focused on leveraging existing elements and integrating them into the established visual guidelines of the Total Materia App. My primary objective was to craft a seamless customer experience for the BOM component, dividing the document development process into distinct phases.
Process
Addressing pain points such as status updates and industry standard coverage, we developed advanced BOM tree structures and implemented drag-and-drop functionality for ease of use. Engineers can import data in specified formats, conduct thorough BOM tests, and analyze reports seamlessly within the application.
Outcomes
While the project remains in development, our team is poised for its implementation in the current year, with alignment and preparation serving as crucial factors in its success.
Furthermore, several related projects within the Total Materia ecosystem, including rebranding efforts and the introduction of new product concepts like the Green Line, build upon the foundation laid by the BOM component.
